The Ugandan Defense Minister downplayed the allegations that the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) which is fighting against the Ethiopian government has been receiving training in Uganda with the support of the United States, Egypt, and South Sudan, according to Ethiopian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs.

The Ugandan Defense Minister Vincent Ssempijja said that Uganda views Ethiopia as the mother of Africa and that any anti-Ethiopian force will never be allowed to operate in Uganda, said the ministry in a statement on Saturday.

The suggestion by the Ugandan Minister came after he held discussion with Chief of Ethiopian Defense Forces, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula on current affairs in the two East African countries.the two East African countries.

Reports have been circulating on social media that Uganda has harbored the TPLF forces and given a training ground for them.

During their talks, the two sides reviewed the status of signed agreements between Ethiopia and Uganda in the defense sector, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement after the meeting on Friday.

The discussion noted the need to renew the agreements between the two countries, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia was assigned to do the follow ups.

The two sides also discussed the recent story circulating over social media about the TPLF connections with Uganda.
